  • The Secret of Diaper Absorbent Core
The Secret of Diaper Absorbent Core
    Dec 30, 2024
    1. First generation diaper core (cotton core): The first generation diaper absorbence core was formed by mixing fluff pulp with high molecular weight water absorbing molecules (SAP), without layering or partitioning, becoming a traditional core. The first generation core has good water absorption effect, but due to its relatively loose structure and lack of adhesive, it cannot fix the fluff pulp and SAP, so it is prone to clumping and fracturing during use. 2. Second generation diaper core (half core): The second generation absorbent polymers core is a partition made on the basis of the first generation core, and the thin composite core is covered with fluff and water absorbing molecules SAP underneath, which can play a certain role in fixing the fluff slurry and SAP, thereby reducing the occurrence of clumping. 3. Third generation diaper core (full core): The third generation super thin absorbent core adopts a composite core structure, consisting of dust-free paper, non-woven fabric, and SAP. The use of composite cores can make diapers thinner and less prone to clumping. The third generation core is made by bonding each layer of material with hot melt adhesive. The core contains a large amount of SAP to ensure the water absorption of the diaper. After absorbing water, it expands as a whole and is flat without clumping. The disadvantage of using composite cores is that the process is more complex, the equipment production speed is low, and compared to traditional cores, the cost will be higher.

Core Technology of Diapers-Ultra Thin SAP Absorbent Core

The ultra-thin absorbent core is the key structure of disposable diapers, enabling ultra-light wearing experience and efficient fluid absorption. Primarily composed of air-laid paper (absorbent bulk paper) and Super Absorbent Polymer (SAP), it has become the prevailing technical solution in the industry. Air-laid paper features fluffy structure and excellent toughness with outstanding liquid spreading performance. It evenly distributes bodily fluid, fully encapsulates and immobilizes SAP particles to prevent powder migration and dust leakage. It also maintains the structural integrity of the core and effectively eliminates clumping and layer separation after fluid absorption. Its inherent fibrous pores facilitate moisture dissipation and further improve air permeability. Serving as the SAP core absorbent and retention medium, SAP delivers ultra-high absorption capacity and superior fluid locking performance. It quickly entraps large volumes of urine and effectively inhibits rewetting. Adopted with layered lamination and precision powder deposition technologies, the composite structure achieves significant thickness reduction without compromising absorption efficiency. Furthermore, functional nonwoven fabrics are applied as auxiliary layers on both sides of the core. The top nonwoven fabric accelerates fluid distribution and air exchange, while the bottom breathable PE film provides reliable leak-proof protection. The synergistic combination of diverse materials produces high-performance ultra-thin cores that excel in lightness, softness, absorption and air permeability.
